How to upload a photo to Facebook

A high school classmate asked me to show her how to put pictures up on Facebook.  It surprised me that since she is an active Facebooker, uploading pictures would be a problem.  But since it was and because perhaps there are other of us age-challenged Facebookers, I decided to provide a lesson right here, right now.

The first thing you do is type something into the text box and then click on the first of the icons following the Attach line under the box.

This gives you a choice of three options:  Upload a photo, take a photo using your webcam or create an album.  Let’s just keep it simple and upload a photo.  Click on those words and you will see.

Your browser will open and you can then find the image you want to upload.  When you find it, then click on it to select and then move to the bottom of the browser window and click on the open button.  This will start the process.  If you don’t click open, nothing will happen.

When the windo closes after you select your picture, then click share back in your Facebook page,

And there you are.

    Hi Ralph,

Isn’t it amazing how some of the easiest things that we take for granted, others do not know? I am amazed at some of my family and friends who are scared of new technologies and refuse to learn anything new.

“Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime”. Thanks for the informative post and I’m sure that your friend is very thankful that you helped them, too.

Thanks for doing this. I’m sure that a lot of people wouldn’t take the time to help someone in this situation. There are plenty of “older” people out there who want to jump on the Facebook bandwagon but are too embarrassed to ask for assistance. Asking for help is just proof that you’re serious in your desire for knowledge. You’re never too old to stop learning!

My friend, the one I did this for, still couldn’t manage to post a photo. I tried to figure out what was missing in my instructions but communicating through Facebook has its challenges. I hope that somebody else actually was able to post a photo because of the directions.
