Top Ten Reasons Why Readers Don’t Leave Comments.

The stats tell me that I do have people dropping by this site. So far only my son has commented (and he does that because he is a good son more than for any other reason). This leaves me to speculate about what any of the others are thinking as they pass through these posts. Here are my thoughts about why they don’t leave a comment. Since my purpose in writing this blog is to attract and retain readers, knowledge about the reason would help me add value to my blog.

What is your reason? Leave me a comment—please.  If it’s easier just enter a number.

  1. It was such a wonderful post that I don’t have anything to add

  2. I have a policy never to comment

  3. I fell asleep

  4. I want to remain anonymous.

  5. I don’t have anything to say

  6. Where are the pictures?

  7. It’s just too much trouble

  8. No entiende ingles

  9. What’s a comment?

  10. The post sucked

    13% – Number 1
    32% – Number 5
    49% – Number 6
    3% – Number 10

Surprisingly enough, this post was one of the more interesting ones you’ve done.

I read a blog for “bloggers” called PROBLOGGER and they just had a good article on this very issue!

Havn’t gotten to that page yet. Working on Day 16.

None of the above as I’m commenting.

    Rose,
You are indeed. Thank you very much.

I think you should add alittle more colour.

I do not see anything wrong with your blog but maybe others do and just leave without passing a comment.

    Try talking to Travis Morgan.

      Olusegun,
I really have not given any thought to the visual aspects of my blog since selecting the theme. It is a good point. First I wanted to have some confidence that the content was adequate because I think that content is the most important thing. I will keep that in mind. Thanks.

I haven’t been around for a while Ralph, the reason being I have been busy building niche websites – yes I am actually building my own sites now – never thought I would be doing that a few short years ago.

Good post about commenting. As a 3 year blogger I have a few more reasons to add. These are for blogs generally not yours in particular.

    1. This doesn’t apply to you but many are guilty – the author never replies to comments, so people don’t return. Basically they don’t understand blogging etiquette.
    2. Again this doesn’t apply to your blog – a lot of blogs are only interested in selling the products plastered all over their blogs. There is too much selling and not enough content.
    3. Some blogs haven’t posted for months so people think they are inactive.

As for your blog, well I honestly don’t know, maybe your subject matter is a little restricted. I have to admit mine is the same and I don’t receive many comments either.

I use to get a reasonable amount of comments with my old blog but that was more of a social, my rants type of blog. I am thinking of building another but with far more controversial subjects.

I don’t think any of your list of 10 apply here. The main reason I can think of why people don’t comment on ANY blog they visit is because the subject matter doesn’t interest them.

    Bill,
Interested in hearing about your niche websites. As to my blog, my fear is that I am just unrelatable. But then my target audience isn’t just anybody.
