Revisiting Obstacles

A year ago I wrote about the proper way to think about obstacles.  They aren’t reasons to change course.  They may be lessons we need to learn or tests for our convictions.  If you are committed to reaching your goals then  you need to be  overcoming  obstacles instead of avoiding them.

Ralph…It’s good seeing you live, or at least on video live. You are alive aren’t you?
Loved your post on Coots today. And this one was good too. Made me think about your post on procrastination. Together they made a lot of sense in dealing with challenges and obstacles. Personally, I’ve just finished with some major landscaping/yard maintenance projects around the house which I thought I may have had to farm out due to my age and physical abilities (I’m basically in good health, but never want to re-roof my house again as I did in 2005). I’m feeling a lot of satisfaction, and Not as old as I did.
    Thanks

      Hansi,
I used to paint my (two story) house in LA. Now in my new (one story) Nocal house, I am considering hiring someone. it’s not age (at least that’s my excuse) but time although a big part of it is that my wife says I am too sloppy about the cleanup. Really it is about what is important. I think I can do anything (somethings just might take longer than they used to) and never at any age would I have considered re-roofing my house so you have me there. I’m glad you have decided not to succumb to the mirage of powerless aging. You aren’t ready for those depends just yet.

Hey Ralph, I’m not one to make outrageous goals but I’m also not one to avoid obstacles. If there is something in my way I will find ways around it. In life you can’t avoid obstacles and if you do you never get anywhere.
