Friday Adventure-Riding the Gondola at South Lake Tahoe

The Gondola ride at Lake Tahoe, South Lake Tah...

Out recent trip to Lake Tahoe didn’t work out exactly as we planned.  The much anticipated Zip Line has been closed for two years.  Then we made it over the pass just ahead of a string or winter storms that left us buried in snow after one clear day.  The first thing we did on on our first day was ride the Heavenly Gondola from the heart of South Lake Tahoe up to the  top where many ski lifts take skiers to the runs.  The ride was great with beautiful panoramas of the beautiful Lake Tahoe basin.  We got a bit more sightseeing done that day before the snow came.

This is a video capturing a bit of the exhilaration of the 3,000 foot ride to the top.

Great views Ralph and just my taste in music. The great ‘Fats’ and the young Peggy Lee when she sang with the Benny Goodman orchestra, it doesn’t get much better.

      Bill,
When I was listening, I would never have known that it was Peggy Lee. There is a different character to her young voice than the one I know.

Ralph, if you are a PL fan I can recommend the double CD ‘Peggy Lee and Benny Goodman The Complete Recordings 1941-1947’. There’s some fabulous tracks on it.

Hey Ralph….Looks like you did have fun in Tahoe. The ride was great, and the day, or that portion of it, was beautiful. Well done ya old Coot.

Looks like y’all had a good time except for the snowstorms. I am a bit disappointed though. I was really looking forward to the zip line video…

Ralph…you do know that Costa Rica has zip lines, right? Of course, there is no OSHA or CPSC there…

      Bob,
Actually the snowstorms weren’t so bad either. Snowbound is very freeing. Those Costa Rican zip lines are too far to drive.
