60’s Nostalgia – Janis Joplin

Janis Joplin has no competition. She was a cuckoo’s egg hatched in a middle class Texas household and her entire life she struggled to find her place. Despite professional acclaim, she never found it and died of a drug overdose in 1970.  She is truly a child of the 60’s.

It is impossible for me to categorize Janis as an artist. Unlike other 60’s performers, she didn’t adopt a style. She didn’t evolve. She was real, raw emotion with no pretense or posturing. My fitness story

This is a personal status report. I’m doing something to help me stay strong.  Not preaching , just reporting what is working for me.  Don’t you hate hearing people tell you what to do?  Especially people half your age. Well, I’m well into my 70th year and not ready to give up on many more active years, You have heard how I struggle with my aging body. I don’t intend to lose my physical strength without a struggle but lately I have learned that a dilettantish approach to keeping fit is doomed to failure.

I have been a dedicated walker for years, at times logging as much as 25 miles a week, Walking is great exercise but it has some problems. It is a big time killer, Even at a fast pace, it takes a long time to walk 25 miles. I find it hard to dedicate so much time. That is not the biggest problem, however.
