Robert died on September 11, 2001 whien American Airlines flight 77 crashed into the Pentagon. He was on his way to Hawaii with a new bride. I originally posted this on my old blog as part of a campaigne to honor all the dead on 9/11/06.
He was one of many innocent Americans and others who died because of crazy people who hate us and will stop at nothing to destroy us. Never forget him and never forget 9/11.
Humans are lousy at predicting the future. There seems to be something in the way our minds are wired that resists that truth because no matter how many times we make bad forecasts, we insist on going right back and making another. We continue to believe that predicting the future is possible and that with enough effort, the right data and algorithms we will get it right yet. We continue to predict economic conditions, political elections, the weather and almost anything else. And we continue to get it wrong.
